The
Pre-School sessions are held in our Main Room, which is a large room
where the children can be seen at all times. It has a carpeted
area at one end which is used for story-time and quiet play, such as
reading or role play in the Home Corner. The rest of the room is
covered with lino-style hard flooring where all other activities are
done such as, painting, water play and play dough.
We also have
a small kitchen area where the children's drinks and snacks are
prepared. When we bake food with the children we have use of the cooker
in the Church Hall, which is through a door only accessible to the
staff.
The front entrance to the
Pre-School opens into a hallway, which offers space to hang coats and bags. Off this entrance hall
are the toilets - we have boys and girls toilet areas with hand basins.
During the better
weather the Pre-School makes use of the local area for activities.
The village green is right outside and the children use this for sports
and exercise. Beside the Pre-School is the Harry Higgins Play Area,
which include swings, a slide, a seesaw and climbing frame. Birchwood
School also allows the Pre-School to use their playground when we
go on our Nature Walks, as they have a little wooded area on the edge
where we can search for things and make things in the little clearing,
such as faces out of twigs, moss and leaves!
